There are many reasons why it is worthwhile to be kind.
People are more stressed-out than ever. Always in go mode. Always future-focused. Most people aren't living in the moment. You will be amazed at how different life seems when you can slow down, and be patient with strangers, the people closest to you, and yourself.
Even just taking 30 seconds to 1 minute before reacting, take a few deep breaths, relax, and see how you feel. Be patient, process before you react. Ask yourself, how do I feel about this? Do I care enough to react? Do I want to react from a place of calm and peace?
Consider how it would feel to treat people with kindness, regardless of the circumstance. Of course, this is not always possible, but it could be.
When you're nice to other people, it makes you feel good. So it's like two-for-one, you brighten someone else's day, and you experience a little more sunshine in your own day. Sometimes, a simple smile, hello, or even excuse me can make someone feel better.
Deep down, everyone in the world has a deep and innate yearning for community. Is that we all subscribe to various labels, various teams, or organizations? We search for places that we fit. We want to feel that we belong.
I saw this cute sign while walking my dog, Leo.
These people are giving back to their community, sharing their surplus, and giving from open hearts. It may seem like just a little sign, but I feel it signifies a deeper sense of community.
Imagine if everyone lived in this way, sharing what they have. How much richer we would be in our hearts. . .
