I was at a business conference recently and one of the speakers said that stewardship is mentioned in The Bible more than faith! Isn't that crazy! Shows you how important being a good steward is to God...
Please enjoy this list of verses that speak to me:
The Book of Proverbs:
Proverbs 10:22 NIV
The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
Proverbs 3:9-10,27 NIV
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. 27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.
Proverbs 10:15-16 NLT
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.
16 The wages of the righteous is life, but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death.
Book of Ecclesiastes:
Ecclesiastes 5:10 NIV
Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.
Ecclesiastes 6:2 NIV
God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.
Book of Acts: Chapter 2 The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Chapter 4 The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.
Jesus spoke in Matthew ““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
How do you do this you might ask? It begins with a tithe. Tithing is a Biblical practice stemming from Old Testament times. It's giving the first 10% of your income back to your church! Interestingly, my church tithes on the tithes they receive! Isn't that cool?
Tithing gives back to your church and also empowers them to sow into other ministries, some of which are across the globe!!
